The art of fighting

I believe that life is a fight. No matter how you look at it, somehow we are fighting all the time, for our careers, our loves, our money, our survival. And all of this is necessary in a way; we can’t escape the rules of samsara. But the question is, I think; How do we fight? Do we fight very agressively, leaving damage and hurt along our ways? Or do we fight wisely, weighing consequences as we go and trying to create something positive for both ourselves as well as others? There is a middleroad between living agressively and living passively, in which we can be gentle with ourselves and others, but still be fierce when needed. We can be gracious without loosing sight of our goals in life. Trungpa said that the warrior always carries a sword, but only uses it when it is absolutely necessary. Sometimes, we do have to strike. But when we do so, it is not out of personal gain, but for the benefit of everyone. Bruce Lee called it; The art of fighting, without fighting.
